WiseCoat® Concrete & Paver Acrylic Sealer

WiseCoat® Concrete & Paver Acrylic Sealer

WiseCoat® Concrete & Paver Acrylic Sealer is a premium, high-performance, single-component, 30% acrylic solids, low VOC (400 g/l), sealer designed for exterior concrete surfaces and pavers such as driveways, patios, pool decks, walkways, and more. As with most concrete acrylics, it is vapor permeable and readily applies outside. Perfect for new concrete/paver application or a yearly maintenance recoating!

Available in 5-gallon pails, our Concrete Acrylic Sealer has been specially formulated for extreme climates where a low VOC sealer is required. Its nano-sealer technology deeply penetrates and reacts internally with cement, slowing moisture migration and efflorescence and intensifying bond capacity. Even in warmer climates the slower evaporating solvents will not show a "cotton candy" effect before the applicator can finish a tight, smooth surface. A dual coat application will provide a UV shield, enhance the beauty, and protect the concrete surface.

Exterior Concrete or Paver Applications

  • Concrete Surfaces
  • Concrete and Brick Pavers
  • Natural Stone
  • Driveways and Garages
  • Pool Decks and Lanais
  • Entryways and Walkways
  • Median Strips
  • Patios

Product Overview

A large portion of northern areas deal with freeze and thaw cycles that can make the utilization of a typical protective exterior concrete acrylic sealer very problematic. Over time and multiple freeze/thaw cycles, most typical acrylic sealers will begin to delaminate and detatch from the original substrate (typically an overlay with 30% solids acrylic coatings) and sometimes take chunks of the original concrete with it. For this reason, many have chosen to forgo the application of an acrylic sealer altogether in these environments.

Concrete finished with WiseCoat® Concrete & Paver Acrylic Sealer

Concrete & Paver Acrylic Sealer was made specifically in response to a growing need in climates that deal with very harsh and rapid freeze and thaw cycles. This premium concrete acrylic sealer product penetrates into the surface of concrete and strengthens it by bonding with the "cream" layer of the concrete, making it much more durable and able to deal with the rapid moisture ingress and egress. While most homeowners and/or contractors have nearly written off acrylic sealers as protective coatings for their concrete overlay projects in freezing climates, anyone who tries this product will think twice about leaving their beautiful concrete or pavers unprotected.

This Acrylic Sealer is a high-grade siloxane blend concrete acrylic making it a premium for freeze thaw environments. This formula makes it possible to not only apply a sealer safely without worrying about it becoming weak and de-laminating over time during multiple freeze and thaw cycles, but also adhering to strict VOC laws requiring solvent acrylic concrete sealers to vaporize less ecologically hazardous solvents into the air.

You can be confident whether you are a homeowner looking to seal your brand new patio concrete or a professional applicator sealing thousands of square feet of commercial pool decks, that this sealer will meet all your area's legal requirements and give you a well protected, long lasting surface for years to come.

Product Planning

  1. Product is flammable. If applicable, turn off all fuel burning appliances and pilot lights.
  2. Best if applied outdoors. Provide for ventilation so that vapors do not accumulate.
  3. Select appropriate PPE (personal protection equipment). Use of a NIOSH approved respirator may be required. Refer to SDS.
  4. Mask all areas requiring protection; product will stick to just about everything.

Application Preperation

  1. Any surface that is about to be sealed needs to be completely cured, clean and free of all contaminants, and fully profiled and etched.
  2. Make sure that temperatures will remain between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit and there will be no precipitation in the applied areas for a 24 hour period following application.
  3. This Premium Acrylic Concrete Sealer is best applied with a 1/4" or 3/8" nap mohair solvent resistant roller. Use of an airless sprayer or pump-up sprayer should only be done by professionals using the proper PPE. Whatever your application technique, make sure to apply thin, even coats over your surface and back roll.
  4. Two coats are typically suggested with any exterior project receiving an acrylic sealer; with the second coat being applied as soon as the first coat is able to be walked on; and is applied in the same manner as the first coat.
  5. ALWAYS WEAR THE PROPER PPE DURING APPLICATION!

Application Steps

  1. Read the TDS and SDS prior to any application of this product!
  2. Mask all areas requiring protection; product will stick to just about everything.
  3. Utilize a bucket grid to apply in a thin layer.
  4. With a 1/4" or 3/8" nap mohair solvent resistant roller, dip and roll across the concrete surface.
  5. Keep a wet edge and do not allow puddling.
  6. Exercise care to eliminate roller tracks through back rolling.
  7. Apply second coat exactly as first coat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Can I use just one coat of Concrete & Paver Acrylic Sealer?

Answer: Yes, however, it is not suggested. For the best results, we highly recommend using two thinly applied coats.

Question: Will Concrete & Paver Acrylic Sealer fill small holes?

Answer: No, clear acrylic concrete sealer was not designed to fill small holes or voids. Caution should be given to puddling, as it is intended to be crystal clear when the product is 8-9 mils wet applied.

Question: Will Concrete & Paver Acrylic Sealer survive the freeze/thaw cycles in my area?

Answer: Yes. If there was ever an exterior acrylic concrete sealer that could maintain proper adhesion in cold weather environments, Concrete & Paver Acrylic Sealer would be the one to do it!

Question: Can I use another concrete sealer over top of Concrete & Paver Acrylic Sealer?

Answer: No, we do not recommend it due to possible issues with delamination. Always use this product for recoats and yearly maintenance recoating.
